About Fostering Hope
Sixteen thousand. That is the number of Georgia’s children in state custody. Innocent and vulnerable, they’ve been removed from their own homes due to neglect, abuse or abandonment.
Scared and confused, they don’t know what their future holds, much less where they will sleep that night. These are Georgia’s children - desperate for love, security, and the safe and nurturing environment that all children deserve.

The number of children in need of these safe havens continues to grow. Yet there is a critical shortage of foster homes, homes that are crucial in helping a young child overcome the trauma and suffering they’ve experienced. The future of these children, and of our society, depends on how we respond to this growing crisis. It depends on how we respond to the call to care.

Fostering Hope - A Call to Care examines how vital it is for Georgians to reach out to these children in need. It is a compelling and emotional look at how lives are changed, even saved, when people answer the call. In Fostering Hope, you will learn about the devastating abuse and neglect that our children are facing – straight from those fighting on the front lines to protect young lives. You will meet foster and adoptive families who have made great sacrifices – but have reaped even greater rewards. They will let you into their lives, and inspire you with their unwavering commitment to provide love, guidance and care for children, who may otherwise have become unfortunate victims of circumstance. You will learn how you can get involved -whether by becoming a foster parent, a volunteer, or by encouraging corporations and organizations to lend their support. Fostering Hope will empower viewers to become a part of the team effort that is saving our children.

Most importantly, you will meet former foster children. Having overcome pain and trauma that most of us can only imagine, they are now resilient, independent and productive members of society. Their lives infinitely changed because of a loving foster family, they have become strong individuals, paving the way towards a brighter tomorrow.
